Okay, let'south be honest. It's not a bully book. The prose is stiff and to the point, there isn't actually whatsoever plot across "we need to put some events into the context of the game's prolog". If I wasn't and then invested in the lore and theory crafting part of the fan community, I wouldn't have bothered with this volume, as it doesn't really add together much to the fifth game. It does add some fun tidbits about the characters, and retcons some of the past canon. And honestly, if y'all're non that interested, this is a Okay, let'south be honest. It'southward not a great book. The prose is stiff and to the betoken, there isn't really any plot across "we need to put some events into the context of the game's prolog". If I wasn't then invested in the lore and theory crafting role of the fan customs, I wouldn't take bothered with this book, as it doesn't really add much to the 5th game. It does add together some fun tidbits virtually the characters, and retcons some of the past canon. And honestly, if you lot're not that interested, this is a waste of time.

I'd still read it again, considering I'm a nerd and DMC has had me in its grasp for nigh on 20 years now.

Rated 1/v for the quality of the novel, merely bumped up to 2/5 because of the few additions to the lore canon.

A fun and enjoyable read. Perfect if your a fan of the Devil May Cry franchise. I enjoyed spending my time dorsum in this world, I honey the characters in this earth so much. Does accept some pacing problems though in the middle.

The translation is curt and sweet — each chapter serves every bit a new scene, a new introduction, and a new problem for main characters to solve, all leading up to DMC5. The half-fashion marking is where things go finnicky, as all momentum between the lead characters is basis to a halt to fill up in the blanks of Nico's background — none of which is told by Nico herself. Yous may skip through pages to get to the next proficient part. I edited an English translation put together by groups online. The translation is short and sweetness — each chapter serves as a new scene, a new introduction, and a new problem for main characters to solve, all leading up to DMC5.
